Lake Sammamish Half + 3 miles

Quick note to start, I am trying to figure out how to download my picture from this race but as I am somewhat technology challenged, I haven't quite figured that out yet. (I will probably figure it out as soon as I post this)

So just a few days after my last post, I laced up running shoes and headed over to the Eastside to meet some of my running buddies for the Lake Sammamish Half Marathon.  But since I was scheduled to run 16 miles this week I needed to add on.  Luckily, my friend Chrissie is a wonderful kind of crazy and happily agreed to add on with me.  So we met in our favorite parking lot at Marymoor Park and her husband drove us to the starting line of the race (it was a point to point race) and dropped off a few friends there then drove us 3 miles up the road so we could start our run.  I felt great for the first 3 miles, except an overwhelming need to pee, (which is unusual for me during a run) used the facilities and we were off again!

The run was very nice and scenic.  It follows the east side of Lake Sammamish and passes by some absolutely beautiful homes!  We even saw an eagle along the way, the girls all said that was a good luck sign.  To be honest I was very nervous about the run I haven't run that far in over four years.  But with my  "sweat" sisters (both new and old) by my side, cheering me on every step of the way it was actually not too bad.  After this run I really feel like the marathon is within my reach!  I can't wait!

New Shoes!

New shoes of any kind are enough to make a girl smile, but when the shoes make you feel like you are flying there is even more reason to celebrate!  As I prepare for the marathon at the end of April I knew I was going to need at least one more new pair of shoes and I have been looking and looking.... Part of the problem was that I loved my shoes that are getting old, the Saucony ProGrid Ride 3, but the update, the Ride 4, NOT so much.  So I have been on a search for a neutral lighter weight distance shoe and I think I have found it!!!

The Adidas Boston 3 - Now I may never run Boston, but I will be running in them! And they make me feel like I can fly!!! I took them out for a run with my friend Chrissie and my dog Roscoe, we did 7 miles and I felt great! (Roscoe also felt great, I think he could run forever and not get tired- in fact he didn't even look tired after the run).  But I felt great too, I feel like I could have gone another 5 or more... good thing because I am running 16 on Saturday

Spring is Springing!!

Even though some days here in the Pacific Northwest still very much feel like winter, there are some VERY clear signs that spring is coming and the best part, they are in my yard!!!!  I started noticing little things and then on one sunny day I noticed the following three beautiful signs of Spring!

Spring Evidence #1 Crocuses!!! Sooo pretty in lavender and dark purple

Spring Evidence #2 Magnolia tree getting ready to burst, I can't wait

Spring Evidence #3 Daffodils (i think) getting ready to bloom

Remember that little piece of evidence #1 the crocuses... Oh yes... they multiplied and bloomed now my entire side yard is full of beauty, I can't wait to find some more incriminating evidence that Spring is here!
