Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime

I was in Seattle recently on my last visit before I move there and had a wonderful time seeing the city for the first time during December. Ryan and I had a great time and started some Christmastime traditions and I joined in on one of the Donaldson's family traditions.. Gingerbread House Day!! Ryan and I got to his parents house early so that we could get a good start on our house before he had to work for a little while. Ryan had the great idea to use Frosted Mini Wheats on the roof to give it that snowy chateau look. The trees in the yard are my handiwork, they are upsidedown ice cream cones decorated with green frosting and red hots. Everyone had a great time decorating the houses and it really got me in the Christmas spirit.

And from the side, yes those are Necos for siding

The next day Ryan and I decided that to really make it feel like Christmas we needed to get a Christmas tree for his apartment, and since I have never had a real Christmas tree, we also felt it would be very fun to go and cut down our own tree. So off we traveled about 40 minutes away from Seattle near Snoqualmie Falls to look for a U-Cut lot. However, because it was Monday and the Seattle area had been experiencing record rainfalls all the tree lots were closed either for the day or for the season. It wasn't a total loss though, I got to see Snoqualmie Falls for the first time and we had fun in the car together. In the end we got a tree from the Market and carried it back 3 blocks to Ryan's apartment. We got some pretty funny looks on our short hike back but it was really fun!

Ryan with the most beautiful and fragrant Noble Fir, I love my first Christmas tree!

After carrying the tree home, Ryan had to go to work for a few hours so I shopped for ornaments and decorations for the tree and apartment. I had so much fun walking around downtown Seattle enjoying a Peppermint Mocha, shopping and then surprising Ryan with lights all over the apartment and even a sprig of mistletoe from the Market! When he got home we decorated the tree together and then sat back and enjoyed our work. We both had so much fun and made wonderful memories

Welcome

Welcome to Sarah in Seattle! I wanted to write this blog for all my friends and family so they could follow me in my new city and all the adventures I come across in the great city of Seattle, Washington. I will be starting a travel nurse assignment on February 1st at Seattle Children's Hospital and will be leaving Chicago on January 23rd with my mom and we will be road tripping it across our beautiful country. I am very excited about this new adventure and step in my life. I can't wait to get there!
